Diamond in your Pocket , written summer 2013, inspired by Gangaji book There;s so much trying, so much doing There’s so much yearnin, and so much seekin we try to be happy, we wish and wish and wish for this and that but there’s a Diamond in your pocket stop the search and see it there there’s a diamond in your pocket stop the search and see it there When you go deep and question the what and the how and who of the self . you can feel, you can see, you can be and discover the truth that you are a precious gem From the Sistine chapel to the Mississippi juke joints the stories are told to believe in things outside yourself, they preach and sing to find everlasting pleasure And there’s Diamond in your pocket stop the search and feel it there there’s a diamond in your pocket stop the search and feel it there end with bridge…

Sacred Ground , written by kathy marshall, first week of dec 2009 Ain’t no reason to wonder why Our body is outside of time When we’re standing on sacred ground When we’re standing on sacred ground The truth is found within you, yes the truth of life is found in you Not in science or religion, not in words of wisdom Why do we need to know its name, Why classify everything? Ain’t no reason to wonder why The stars are shining in our mind When we’re flying through sacred air When we’re flying through sacred air The truth is found in what’s free, yes the best things in life are free Like the sunrise and sunset, Like love and death, Like the sun and the moon, And the air that we breathe Tell me your story, tell me no lies There ain’t no wrong there ain’t no right Tell me your story tell me no lies There ain’t no heaven, there ain’t no hell Ain’t no reason to wonder why Our blood is flowing with the tide When we’re dreaming in sacred water When we’re dreaming in sacred water Ain’t no reason to wonder why The ancestors will finally hear our cry When we’re dancing in sacred fire, When we’re dancing in sacred fire. When we’re dreaming in sacred water When we’re flying through sacred air When we’re standing on sacred ground

oregon rain 03:39
Oregon Rain, lyrics and music written by Kathy Marshall 9/10 Picking blackberries in the Oregon Rain Listening to Ellis singing of beauty right here, right now Birds are chirping Rain and voice are merging Into cars going by so fast And I am here in the mist of it all Fingers stained with juice Skin pricked in pain And I am here picking in the Oregon Rain That night the full moon was shrouded in the sky Black and white clouds were drifting by and by Water crystals forming Cold rain drops are falling Into thoughts with empty spaces And I am here gazing in the Oregon Rain How many times have I watched the rain? How many times have I crossed that bridge this way? How many times have I gazed at the clouds? That bring the wisdom down I feel the beauty gently misting over me Repeat 1st verse First verse written 9/18/10, music came that week after waking up one morning.

Secrets to life Written by Kathy Marshall September 2009 Met a grey haired woman laughing in her rocking chair “Come sit down beside me” she crooned, “I got secrets to share” With a toothy grin she said “I can tell you that I aint’ afraid of dying cause I lived my life so well”. I leaned in closely as she whispered these words “Heed to your heart and be true to yourself have the courage to be and don’t regret the things you shoulda coulda done with the life you have left”. Chorus: “And Girl, live with your eyes wide open And Girl, risk and love with devotion And Girl, balance your mind and emotion So you can see and be and sit with me, right now” I looked in her deep blue eyes and understood her words She said “Listen completely so your songs can be heard. Live in the moment, don’t define you by past Laugh and have fun and be patient at last!” Chorus And in that moment she reaches out her wrinkled hand She gives and gives without making demands With her knowing gaze she leaves with me with this gem ‘Accept, heal and love and forgive yourself’

dreamcatcher 05:11
Dreamcatcher Dreamcatcher, Dreamcatcher, catch my dream Cast a web so my visions can be seen I dream a song and I sing a dream Nothing there is impossible to me Floating peacefully in the ocean I die, in my sleep tonight; I die in my sleep tonight, in my sleep tonight Last time: I died in my sleep last night… In deep slumber the owls are staring at me In the backyard flat of haight ashbury Happy hippy faeries flying through the air With angel wings and feathers in their hair Drove my lover to a retreat Then realized I was alone, sitting In my red chair watching The trees growing in my home. Heard a warning siren A Tsunami was coming Water rushed in and swallowed me , Took my last breath, and died peacefully Repeat Dreamcatcher verse Song written by Kathy Marshall over a 6 month period, finished 12/11

Freedom Train , written may 2010, inspired by Gangaji and Papaji Come on y’all get aboard that freedom train And leave your baggage behind Come on y’all get aboard that freedom train And leave your baggage behind The roles we play The tapes we listen to The stories we tell ourselves We get stuck with a one way ticket To a lonely destination Surrender, surrender, surrender at the station Stop and surrender Surrender now Surrender at the station Come on y’all get aboard that freedom train And leave your baggage behind Come on y’all get aboard that freedom train And leave your baggage behind Repeat 2nd surrender chorus Repeat chorus again!

Candle in the Night The journey has been so sweet and true the first time you saw me right through that night in your car when you held my hand so lovingly, so gently I knew I wanted to be with you I wanted to be with you With you We came together as two And not as each other’s better half Our bodies touched in tantric delight You made me laugh, you made me cry I knew I loved you before this time I loved you before this lifetime We’ve been together for a generation With some trails and tribulations Sometimes we forget what really matters There’s you, there’s me There’s love between The two of us There is love, oh there is love, there is love Tonight I saw seven shooting stars And I remembered who you are You are an infinite being of light So beautiful, so strong, and so bright You are my candle in the night You are a candle in the night A candle so bright You are a candle in the night Kathy Marshall 12/16/09, started writing 12/13,

Pull back the Curtain (partial capo on the 7th fret at the bottom) Pull back the curtain And see what role you’re playing now Is it a drama, a thriller, a comedy An action or mystery The face you put on each day Is it a smile, a frown, is it real enough to play The part you came here for You can sing and act and dance in your own score You can laugh and cry in the story you write From the beginning to the end, you have the sight, to say Yes to life, say yes to love, say yes to the people in your life Say yes to passion, say yes to the passion in your heart Just say yes, just say yes, just say yes It’s never to late to start To be and play in your impossible dream Pull back the curtain And see what role you’re playing now Is it a western or fantasy a soap opera or love story The face you put on each day Is it a smile, a frown, is it real enough to say Repeat Yes to life verse Music and lyrics by Kathy Marshall, April 18 2009, finished song, started around april 11th.

Grandmother Rita, song started December 2012, finished Feb 2013. Grandmother Rita, tell us a story From the tundra to the stars Your drum is calling the four directions Singing a prayer with your song Eagles soaring in the sky Fish are swimming in the sea The wolves are howling at the moon And here you are blessing us too Your eagle feather wing blue heron one too Breathes the air of love through you Tail end of the old ways, your Yupik name, Bamiovan You call us to live in peace this day Grandmother Rita, pray us another song Marie, your companion is dancing along You teach us to listen and to forgive our past Your Potlatch ways will outlast. Get out of your Way, written feb 2/3 week, finished before 2/11 by Kathy Marshall Get out of your way Get out, Get out, Get out of your way We slipped from our mother’s womb A baby’s breath so finely tuned Perfect and unique as a flower So godlike with purity and power Get out of your way Get out, Get out, Get out of your way Society teaches us to be sheep Preaching those limiting beliefs Our minds get scared into a box With conditions, judgments and negative thoughts Get out of your way Get out, Get out, Get out of your way We are born on this planet earth to realize our human worth Simply creating this canvas of life, we can paint outside those lines When you let go your true colors will show. Get out, Get out, Get out of your way There no need to suffer in pain It keeps us bound, fearful and tame Into the wild we can go Set yourself free and let the energy flow

Save me Hummingbird save me Dragonfly save me Coyote save me And the crow flies free Woke up late last night and roared like a lion Looked in the mirror and saw fire in my eyes When I returned to the mountain and see The kingdom living in peace And I will go down to the river And share the love inside of me Chorus Women standing in a circle holding hands Praying for Mother Land She is crying, she is weary Waiting for us to understand. Chorus Written by Kathy Marshall, 9/30/12

about

Standing on Sacred Ground’ came out in 2014. These songs were gifts and Kathy feels a deep responsibility to share them. The lyrics are deeply personal and introspective, reflecting values of the musician: respect for Mother Earth, an urging to slow down and find truth within yourself.
